More about the 40

The boat was launched in 2006 as ‘Friends of the Earth Class 40 #13, she was and sailed to the UK by her commissioning owner and then kept ashore at Cowes and put up for sale.  The name and number were changed under previous ownership. Her second owner bought her in 2008 taking possession in the autumn of that year.  In 2009 he completed the qualifier for the OSTAR but did not take part.  In the autumn of 2009, they completed the qualifier for the RBI race and competed in 2010. Roaring Forty has a Class 40 certificate from 2016.  The interior is divided into 5 watertight compartments. The aft compartment seals the rudder assembly.  Next is the main cabin.  Two hatches then provide access to the forward sail and WC locker.  Forward there is a sealed space and on the bow is a sealed crash barrier.  Also, the bow has a sacrificial bow section on the exterior.  There are 3 cubic meters of flotation foam added after the structure was complete as per the Class 40 rule. In the main cabin there are 4 aluminium pipe cots.  There is no floor.  A simple lightweight box covers the engine and doubles as a nav seat and galley area with a single burner cooking appliance.
